In February 2021, Evergreen Real Estate Group’s property Pelham Manor located in Toledo, Ohio partnered with Maumee Valley Habitat for Humanity ReStore for a recycling initiative. Assistant Superintendent, Joshua Sainer and the team at Pelham Manor, worked with subcontractors to salvage old existing light fixtures and cabinets that made it through demolition without damage and then logged each process. In result, the items became tax-deductible and were arranged to be picked up every Friday which later were sold through the non-profit home improvement store.
Recycled items included:
[9] 24x48x3.25 3 bulb ACT Lay-in Grid light
[89] 24x24x3.25 3 bulb ACT Lay-in Grid light
[38] 15 inch 3-light, White Flush Mount Dome fixtures
[43] 6 inch 1-light, Flush Mount Globe fixtures
[2] 9 inch 1-light, Flush Mount Dome fixtures
[187] Miscellaneous Kitchen Cabinets

[6] 36” wide rolls of wallpaper
[8] Church brand, Elongated toilet seats
[102] Fan Coil unit
[3] 12x12x48 boxes of fluorescent tubes and CFLs
In addition to the items listed, a total of 22 pickup truck loads of cardboard boxes were recycled. There were also small recycling bins for aluminum cans, mixed containers and office paper in Pelham’s construction office. An estimated 60 CY of miscellaneous light fixtures, exhaust fans, metal studs, old wiring, aluminum store front framing material and metal roofing trim were also taken to the scrap yard.
All the proceeds were used to build and repair homes for low-income residents in Lucas County, Ohio. Evergreen will continue to reduce environmental impact from hazardous materials entering the waste stream by recycling items across all their properties. All participating subcontractors included: Allport Construction, Cinco Electric, EMCOR Services Shambaugh, Tri-State Industrial Flooring, 1st Choice Roofing, Interstate Commerical Glass and Door and Toledo Elevator.
