Creating Community-Focused Housing Along Chicago’s Bloomingdale Trail

Encuentro Square is a transformative affordable housing development at the western end of Chicago’s Bloomingdale Trail. Phase I includes 89 family units across two buildings, developed through a community-led design process to prevent displacement in Logan Square, Humboldt Park, and Hermosa. The trauma-informed design includes a secured courtyard, teaching kitchen, and computer lab. With 55 RAD-subsidized units and a mix of 4% and 9% LIHTC financing, the development offers stability and resources in a gentrifying area Encuentro Square.
