Winton Manor is an 11-story, 270-unit affordable housing community located in downtown Cleveland, Ohio, just steps from shops and restaurants.  Built in 1917, the building was originally constructed as a hotel, which housed an extravagant banquet hall and a restaurant owned by Chef Hector Boiardi, famously known as Chef Boyardee. This historic property was converted to and has operated as an affordable housing since 1971, currently housing seniors and residents with disabilities.  Nearly 50 years after its initial conversion to housing, the property required major rehabilitation.  Financed by tax-exempt bonds and 4% Low-Income Housing Tax Credits, Evergreen embarked on an extensive rehabilitation, making major improvements to the units, common areas and façade. This effort not only ensured that the 100-year-old property will continue to offer a safe comfortable home for its residents, but also that its architectural and historical prominence in the greater Cleveland is preserved for years to come.
